Gloomy day in Paris and NYE!

What better way to spend a gloomy day than to explore the cemeteries... I know, we thought it was wierd too but it's just what you have to do when you're here.. We didn't really know anyone to look for other than Jim Morrison but it was actually really amazing to walk around with the other masses of people and look for well known icons. Such an eerie place, we could only find Jim at this cemetery.

Jim Morrison
Musician

A lot of people were surrounding this area, it was barricaded and there were so many sweet gifts..
Really glad we found it!

Sneaky Eye?

Man Ray
Photographer

Him and his wife buried together..

We were very clever and figured out the Metro.. Even in French we figured our way around town!

Moulin Rouge!
Such a pretty place..

NYE in PARIS!

We thought it would be nice to have a stroll around our local area and have a look at all this beautiful french food! Every store was packed full of people getting there New Year's Eve food and drinks..
We just had a sneaky peep and taste tested along the way...

We decided to have a rest in our hotel with some REAL french champagne, some fresh baguettes and some glorious SMELLY cheese.. Its soo not the same in Australia, it reeeeks!
The champagne was 40 euros, which was expensive and to be honest it tasted like an 18th birthday party tab wine.. I much prefer my $3.99 Crack Peach any day.. Maybe we were just drinking the wrong type and we need to find the ultimate but we thought for a bottle that pricey, why not! ts gotta be good.. and its NYE!

So as were relaxing, watching Housewives of Beverly Hills, Skyping TC, Mayo and Olive we thought we had all the time in world to walk down to the Eiffel Tower.. THEN I turned on the TV and they had the NYE Countdown on.. It was in Paris, under the Eiffel with 30 minutes to go.. I looked at my computer and it was only 10:30pm.. then I relised my laptop was set in LONDON TIME and it REALLY WAS 30 minutes to the coutdown!!

We bolted down the street, not one taxi was prepared to drive us down to the Eiffel as the streets were closed and too busy, I look at the Metro, I look at hiring the bikes.. no luck! We were at least a 20 minute walk away.. then this miracle Taxi stops and drives us right up to the base of the Eiffel! With 5 minutes to spare! We got a great spot and cheered on with the rest of the millions of people there!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Apart from the Eiffel sparkling.. pretty and very French but NO fireworks? There was some houseparty ones nearby but none on the Eiffel!? Anyways, very funny night.. We then went back to the hotel and had our delicious Fruit Tarts that were waiting for us..
Bon A petite!
